Overview Completed Sites Studio Work Bench

A picture is worth a thousand words... especially when it does more then just look pretty.

Welcome to my studio, here I showcase some of my favorite screen-shots. A screen shot is basically a picture, these are used to narrow down the layout a client would like to create a site with. Some screen shots show the most basic graphical site enhancements, like rollovers and some navigation styles. Most of these screen shots were never used on a web site, many were created for clients who decided to go with a different layout design or look.

I hope you have time to visit a few of my working screen shot pages, these can give you a good idea of the ways we can present information, a couple features you can include in your web design, as well as some unique ways to present your web site to your visitors. Simply click on the screen-shot to open it in a new window.

Example Antique Mall

This example shows a simple scrolling menu system. These are less common since the majority of people have upgraded to larger screens, but if you have a whole lot of menu items (like the categories shown in the example here) this is a pretty good option. This technique is very common in text areas and product catalogs.
Example Jewelry Supply Catalog

This example shows a graphic form. (Change the selection in the drop down list and the picture updates to show the selected item.) It also has a very compact pop up menu system you can see if you click on the "Menu" button.
Example School Site 1

This example showcases a unique DHTML menu, mouse over the "blocks" to see.
Example School Site 2

This example layout showcases a more professional version of the school site, DHTML is used on the menu, mouse over the menu links to see the description box change to explain what each link is.
He's A Jerk Example

This example showcases a short, (almost too short,) Flash entry to a web site. As a warning, generally speaking flash intros are not a good idea. While they can be very attractive or cool, returning visitors will quickly tire of waiting for the flash to load and let them get to your site. Instead of an intro page as shown in this example, I recommend a smaller flash embedded into the home page; that way visitor's who wish to watch it can do so, but visitors who have already seen it can choose to ignore it while still being able to access the rest of your website.
Knife Company ExampleThis example showcases a good layout for a business catalog. (The Ulu link on the first page works, as well as the Moose/Caribou link on the second page.) This layout style allows you to show a lot of items on each page (which means more potential sales,) and even though this site is designed for smaller screens you could easily have 15 items on there without it looking cluttered. Your clients only have to get the details about the products they are interested in; very efficient without being boring.
If you are looking for examples of my vision, or just need some inspiration, I hope you enjoy these. These are simply pictures with no moving parts, but they are good examples of the thousands of ways you can layout a unique but functional web site.
